About Alina Laura Anton

My love of art began at home in Romania, watching my father paint. He created beautiful landscapes — rivers, mountains, little huts and haystacks — I can still remember the smell of oils in the room, the sofa where we would sit and watch him work, his palette full of colour and his paintings full of life. That early world shaped everything.

From 5th to 12th grade I attended the School of Art in Bacău, where I learned to draw, paint, and later to sculpt. After finishing art school I kept painting the things I loved, exploring every style and subject I was drawn to. Life brought long breaks along the way, but when I arrived in Ireland, painting found me again.

Ireland gave me a new world to fall in love with. Its light, its wild coastlines, its quiet sunsets and dramatic skies — I have tried to capture all of it. Over the years my work has taken me from family portraits of elephants and giraffes, to koi fish, horses, cows, farm animals and pets, to the rugged sea stacks and calm herons of the Irish coast. I love wildlife deeply, and Irish wildlife — puffins, foxes, herons, and more — has become a growing part of my work. I enjoy painting details and can get lost in them; I am equally drawn to the drama of a rough sea and the stillness of a sunrise.

No matter how difficult the subject, I have always loved a challenge — it is where I learn the most and where my style continues to grow.

Last year I participated in Artsource, which was both exciting and terrifying. Seeing so many people stop at my panel, admire the work, and share such warm and generous feedback was truly mind-blowing. Those moments — and the kind words of collectors from all over the world who have brought my paintings into their homes — are what keep me painting, even on the hard days.

I am a single mum, raising my son while working full time. Art has brought me joy in moments of real need, and people's kindness towards my work has meant more than I can say. I hope one day art will be able to give back even more — but for now, I paint whenever I can, and I pour everything into it.

Each painting is an original, one-of-a-kind work, signed by hand. When you bring one of my pieces into your home, you are bringing a piece of Ireland — and a piece of this story — with it.
